Cardinals Don’t Want To Start QB John Skelton To Start In 2011

The Cardinals don’t want QB John Skelton to start in 2011, but are excited about his future. Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic writes that head coach Ken Whisenhunt and his staff would be content to enter the season with a veteran as the starter, Skelton as the No.2, and either Rich Bartel or Max Hall as the No. 3.

The Cardinals don’t think there is a sure thing at quarterback in the 2011 draft and are expected to look for a veteran to provide a bridge to the future. Skelton might just have the skills to be that future. If the off-season plans work out, Skelton will be able to sit and learn this season.

I don’t understand why they just don’t let skelton start now , I mean sure he is young but look at sam bradford , he started 16 games && I believe he was 6-10 , && he won rookie of the year , he didn’t even have a winning season , they should let skelton start && see what he can do with a full 16 game season , its either make or break at this point , its either he is the guy or not , who’s to say that we will do any better with marc bulger or Kevin Kolb , I think they should let skelton be named started && let a veteren or richard bartel be #2 , I keep hearing that skelton has all the tools &to be the future of arizona , with that said , why not fix the O-line , get a Tight-end that can catch the ball && block , and see what happens , I know the cardinals are in a “win now” mindset but how can we win now if we keep playing musical chairs with the Qb position , 2 years ago when kurt warner played Carolina , we lost , kurt warner threw like 4-5 Ints && he wasn’t pulled , peyton manning threw 4 Ints in back to back games , I’m not saying John Skelton is as good as these guys , but we should stick with our starter , john skelton is 2-2 as starter , 660+ yards , 2Tds-2INts , we should fix our Oline && see what skelton has , && if he’s not the guy then look in the draft next season

I see a very good future for Skelton. Very optimistic. Maybe because i did my High School in El Paso Texas. Skelton is from El Paso and if he turned out to be num 1 for the season then it gives an incentive por El Pasoans to go watch the Cards playing locally and see the star rise.
