Cardinals brass is telling the Cowboy fans that may want to attend the game on October 12th one simple message - “stay away.” Well, it may not be that easy, but it appears that way as the team has decided in order to buy the Cowboys game fans will ALSO have to buy the same number of tickets to the teams preseason opener vs the Saints on August 7th. Mark Dalton, a team spokesperson, said that the team wants to “have as many Cardinal fans in the stadium as possible.” In other words, the team is going to do whatever it takes to make sure players like Warner, Leinart, James and Boldin get more cheers than the likes of Romo, Owens, Barber and Adam Jones.

Our sources in the desert tell us that second-year NT Alan Branch, who is being counted on to step up his game after a so-so rookie campaign, “looked a little doughy” in the team’s minicamps and OTAs. On the other hand, we hear starting RB Edgerrin James couldn’t have looked in better shape for what figures to be another 20- to 25-carries-per-game workload this coming season.

Kurt is obviously a critical piece of the team.” Last season Warner threw for 27 touchdowns and 3417 yards. The TD totals were third most in the NFC, and second most in Cards history.

Cardinals GM Rod Graves recently told team insiders that the most likely time for star WR Anquan Boldin to receive a new contract would be sometime this fall rather than this summer. Not only are new contracts for franchise ILB Karlos Dansby and QB Kurt Warner considered higher priorities, Graves also said he wants to be sure the team has enough cap space heading into the season to account for possible injuries suffered in training camp or early in the season. We hear the Cardinals are expected to have somewhere between $2 million and $4 million to play with come September.

Looks as if Najeh Davenport had dreams of heading to the desert, he’s going to have to change his mind. AZCentral.com today is reporting that the Cards have no interest in bringing in Davenport, who’s been looking for a new team since his release from the Steelers last week.

Davenport had said in an interview with NFL Radio that there were a few teams that peeked his interest, with the Cardinals being on the top of the list due to the fact he was use to the offense after playing under coach Ken Whisenhunt in Pittsburgh. GM Rod Graves of the Cardinals said to reporter Kent Sommers via text message today that the team has not interest in Davenport.

The other team that Davenport pointed out in the interview that he wouldn’t mind going to is the Lions, who look like they could use a back right now, and even attended the workout of former back Kevin Jones. The Detroit Free Press picked up our story from earlier in the week that talked about Davenport wanting to go to either Arizona or Detroit.
