Cardinals Release Veteran Linebacker Terrell Suggs

It came to a surprise to many on Friday, as the Cardinals decided to cut ties with 37-year-old offseason pickup Terrell Suggs.

Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury announced the deal that the team was releasing the veteran, and said that the decision to part ways was mutual.

Suggs’ role with the team was slowly decreasing, which is part of the reason the team decided to go in the direction they did with the linebacker.

The move also will give the Cards a chance to start being able to use younger players on defense moving forward.

Suggs was absent for 10 of the last 14 Cardinal practices due to issues with his hamstring.

“It was mutual conversations as the thing went on,” Kingsbury said.

“The respect was both ways, and we know what he’s meant to this league, the Hall of Fame player he’s been, and so we just wanted to have those conversations.”
