Cardinals Hosting the Undefeated Niners; Three Keys to a Thursday Night Win

The Cardinals will come out in all black on Thursday in their NFC West showdown with the 7-0 San Francisco 49ers, hoping not to be in the ones in mourning once the final gun sounds.

Arizona comes in with a mark of 3-4-1, coming off a bad 31-9 loss to Drew Brees and the Saints on Sunday breaking their three-game win streak.

Tonight they are double-digit underdogs at 10 point dogs, and will look to land the big upset off a team that has yet to lose this season.

Here’s a couple keys if the Cards are going to get to .500 tonight.

1. Pressure Jimmy G

49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo has been as good as advertised this season, and one reason is the play of the Niners offensive line, which has been good as well.

If the Cards want to make this a long night for Garoppolo, they are going to have to get to him and bring him down a couple of times.

Don’t be surprised if Vance Joseph dials up some blitzes to try and get the Niners QB on the ground a couple of times.

2. Keep the Streak Alive

The Cards have been careful with the ball over the last four games, not turning the ball over once which is tied for the longest streak in franchise history.

It’s crazy to think that the Cards are doing this playing with a rookie QB and a young team, but it also shows that this team is playing focused, even after they lost 31-9 last week to the Saints.

If the Cards are going to get a ‘W’ on this night, they have to keep the ball in their hands.

3. Make Splash Plays

The Niners success in 2019 has been partly due to the fact they have been able to stop other teams from coming up with big plays, something that would really help the Cards can get a few tonight.

Look for Murray to try and get his wide outs involved early, as with injuries in the run game, it’s probably the best way for the Cardinals to get wins.

A couple long pass plays would be a welcome sight for the Cards and their fans.
