Josh Rosen in Walking Boot After Cardinals QB Injured During Loss to Broncos

Cardinals rookie quarterback Josh Rosen may insist his injured toe is “fine” but he was seen wearing a walking boot at the team facility today and will undergo an MRI to assess the damage according to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic.

The injury occurred on the final play of the game as Rosen’s foot got stuck in the turf as he was being sacked for the sixth time. Clearly the injury had nothing to do with Rosen’s disastrous five-turnover performance in the team’s 45-10 blowout loss but it could cost Rosen playing time and the Cardinals organization some money.

Ever since veteran Sam Bradford was demoted in favor of Rosen, the team has made him inactive on game days as his contract stipulates he be paid $312,500 for every game he suits up for. if Rosen is unable to play in Week 8, Bradford will have to be active even if the team chooses to start journeyman Mike Glennon. And new offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich might be wise not to risk the team’s rookie franchise QB again until the team solves some obvious protection issues.
