Cardinals Bring Back TE Jermaine Gresham

Jermaine Gresham

The Cardinals have re-signed veteran tight end Jermaine Gresham to a one-year contract according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

While monetary terms were not immediately available, Rapoport also reports that Gresham is “taking less to stay.” in Arizona. Initially a first-round pick out of Oklahoma for the Cincinnati Bengals in 20110, Gresham stuggled in the receiving tight end role desired by the Bengals. He spent five years in Cincy before being signed as a free agent for the Cardinals. Cards head coach Bruce Arians played to Gresham’s strengths in 2015, allowing him to stay locked on the line of scrimmage and block. He proceeded to score only one touchdown and catch only 18 passes but finished as the 8th-best blocking tight end out of 73 qualifiers in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus.

With a dynamic stable of running backs, top-flight wideouts, and an aging quarterback in need of protection, the Cardinals are the perfect fit for Gresham.
