Cardinals GM Keim Says it’s ‘Scary’ How Good David Johnson Can Be

Cardinals general manager Steve Keim says it is “scary” to think how good running back David Johnson can be according to azcardinals.com.

Keim added that Johnson was only “scratching the surface” in his explosive rookie year, and he believes Johnson is “truly a three-down back.”

The third-round rookie out of Northern Iowa started out as more of a change-of-pace back and returner/gadget player for the Cardinals and head coach Bruce Arians has shown a reluctance to use rookies in full-time, pivotal roles.

Injuries to veterans Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington forced Arians’ hand, however, and Johnson ran away with the starting job and never looked back.

Johnson is fully expected to enter the 2016 season as Arizona’s “bellcow” back and it sounds like both Keim and Arians are comfortable having him in that role. He will likely be one of the top five running backs drafted in fantasy leagues next season.
