WR Fitzgerald To Have MRI to See If MCL Injury Is Serious

Detroit Lions v Arizona Cardinals

Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the seriousness of an injury suffered to the MCL in his left knee, Ed Werder of ESPN reports citing a source.

Fitzgerald left for the locker room in the final two minutes of the first half after taking a hit on a third-down pass from quarterback Drew Stanton.

Fitzgerald returned for the second half and caught a game-clinching pass from Stanton on third down on the final drive of Arizona’s 14-6 win over the Detroit Lions.

Fitzgerald is convinced he’s capable of playing through the injury, particularly after returning to do so Sunday, the source said.

Coach Bruce Arians shared that same sentiment.

“Larry came back and played, so we’ll see how sore he is Monday,” Arians said.

The 11-year veteran finished Sunday’s game with just two catches for 33 yards.
