The Cardinals will interview Bengals OC Jay Gruden for their head coaching vacancy, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.
The Eagles and Cardinals intend to interview Gruden this week, according to a league source. Gruden’s team was eliminated from the playoffs Saturday and he is now free to speak to other teams about head coaching opportunities.
Last year, Gruden declined to take head coaching interviews but will be doing so this season and could emerge as a candidate in San Diego and Jacksonville, as well, pending developments with both clubs.
Gruden has reached the playoffs with young quarterback Andy Dalton during each of Dalton’s two seasons. Gruden previously worked in the NFL under his brother, Jon, in Tampa and also was a successful head coach in the Arena League.
