Cardinals Don’t Want to Lose DE Calais Campbell

Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this off-season, but general manager Rod Graves says the team has no intention of letting him get away.

“Calais will be with us, rest assured,” Graves told Arizona Sports 620 according to the team’s official website. “We will continue to focus on getting a long-term deal in place and it’s a process. But he will be an Arizona Cardinals player this year and we are hoping certainly to extend that to a long-term deal. Conversations are continuing with his agent.”

A 2008 second-round pick out of Miami, the 6-foot-8, 300-pound Campbell has 180 tackles, 21 sacks and 18 passes defensed as a full-time starter over the last three seasons.

Campbell could receive the franchise tag, which is projected to be worth around $10.6 million in 2012.
