Cardinals Chatting with Hue Jackson About QB Coaching Job

Former Oakland coach Hue Jackson is in conversations with the Cardinals about their vacant quarterbacks coaching job, league sources said Sunday.

Former Chiefs coach Todd Haley, who had previously been the Cardinals’ wide receivers coach, was the first choice for the opening but he and the team could not agree on the exact scope of the role and Haley is exploring other options.

Jackson, who was fired by new Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie earlier this month, met with new St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher last Wednesday about the team’s offensive coordinator job, a position that eventually went to former New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. Jackson went 8-8 as Oakland’s coach after spending the 2010 season as the team’s offensive coordinator.
