The Cardinals continue to talk with the agent for defensive end Calais Campbell about a new contract, and General Manager Rod Graves is hopeful a deal can be reach “sooner rather than later” according to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic.
“We’ve been in negotiations for some time,” Graves said. “Not only has Calais performed well on the field, but he’s also been superb off the field as a representative of this team.”
Graves declined further comment, and Campbell’s agent, Ben Dogra, has not responded to interview requests. Campbell is in the last year of his contract and is making $600,000 in base salary. He leads the team in sacks with seven and has blocked three field goals this year.
