Breakdown of the Third Day of the Draft for the Cards

NFL.com breaks down day three for the Cards, and gives their take on some background on the players the team picked.

Round 4, Pick 6 (103) Sam Acho OLB 6’2″ 262 Texas 5.6

Pick Analysis: The Cardinals address their pass-rush issue with the selection of Acho. He gives them a high-motor edge player with quickness and burst. He will need some time to develop but could be a contributor as a rotational player next season.

Round 5, Pick 5 (136) Anthony Sherman RB 5’10” 242 Connecticut 4.0

Pick Analysis:
The Cardinals pick up a tough, hard-nosed lead blocker in Sherman. He has the skills to be whammer between the tackles, and his combination of size, strength and athleticism makes him an ideal special teams contributor.
Round 6, Pick 6 (171) Quan Sturdivant LB 6’1″ 241 North Carolina 6.5

Pick Analysis: The Cardinals add an intriguing athlete to their linebacker corps. He has quickness and movement skills, and is pretty instinctive for the position. He was expected to come off the board much higher based on his talent.

Round 6, Pick 19 (184) (From Buccaneers through Eagles) David Carter DT 6’5″ 294 UCLA

Round 7, Pick 46 (249) (Compensatory Selection) Demarco Sampson WR 6’2″ 204 San Diego St.

Pick Analysis: Sampson has dealt with injuries but still had a productive career for the Aztecs. He has the ability to keep the chains moving as a No. 3 or 4 receiver in the slot.
