Cards Escape St. Louis with a Win: 17-13

Adrian Wilson recorded two interceptions and one sack during the Cardinals' narrow week 1 victory over the Rams.

Well, that certainly wasn’t pretty and is more than a bit troubling.  After a series of gaffs, mistakes, and miscues, the Cardinals are lucky to leave the Edward Jones Dome with a 1-0 record.  I’ll have a full recap up tomorrow, but here are some quick hits until then.

Tim Hightower (13, carries, 54 yards, 1 TD, 2 fumbles) really needs to hold onto the ball.  The same goes for rookie wide receiver Max Komar, who put the ball on the ground three times during the game.

Steve Breason (7 catches, 132 yards, 18.9 yards/catch) had an unbelievable performance in his first game as the number two receiver.  The forced fumble after the sack of Anderson was the biggest play of the game.

Brandon Keith did an okay job on Chris Long, who seems poised to have a great season for the Rams.

Larry Fitzgerald (3 catches, 43 yards, 14.3 yards/catch, 1 TD) doesn’t appear to be at 100%.  There were a couple of plays that Fitzgerald, if healthy, normally makes on a routine basis.  One that comes to mind was the fade to the left side of the endzone during the 4th quarter.

Derek Anderson (22/41, 297 yards, 7.2 yards/completion, 1  TD, 0 INT, 85.1 rating) missed a few passes, but really showed something by standing in the pocket after taking a pounding.  His lone touchdown came when the Cardinals really needed it.

Adrian Wilson had two picks and a sack, while Kerry Rhodes had a game changing pick as the Rams were driving into the Cardinals’ red zone to take the lead with under 2 minutes to play
