Cardinals and Texans Underway in Glendale

The Cardinals and Texans are battling at University of Phoenix Stadium.  The Texans jumped out to a 10-0 lead as the teams approach half-time.

The Cardinals first-team offense failed to put any points on the Texans.  Matt Leinart played three series and connected on six out of seven passes thrown for 49 yards with no interceptions.  Leinart, however, did fumble (recovered by Wells) and was sacked twice.  All of Leinart’s passes were short and basically non-threatening with his longest completion gaining only 14 yards.  Derek Anderson went 4-8 with one interception, which went through Andre Roberts’ hands.

Tim Hightower rushed for 16 yards on 4 carries.  Beanie Wells, who’s still recovering from a ribs injury, rushed for 9 yards on 5 carries during the first half.

The receiving core had an unremarkable first half, with Early Doucet leading the team with 3 catches for for 26 yards.  As previously mentioned, rookie wide receiver Andre Roberts’ shaky hands didn’t improve as he allowed a Derek Anderson pass through his hands, which was intercepted.

The Texans scored 10 points with the touchdown coming on a 44-yard pass from Matt Schaub to Andre Johnson.  Daryl Washington had a pretty impressive first half recording six tackles and also recovering a fumble in his own endzone.

Ben Graham boomed two punts for a combined 92 yards and Jay Feely missed a 47-yard field goal.
