Rookie WR Williams Impressive in Practice Sessions

Sounds like with some issues with injuries, a door has been open for free agent WR Stephen Williams, and he is taking advantage of it:

Cardinals wide receiver Stephen Williams’ performance Saturday morning was a continuation of the way he’s played since signing as a rookie free agent in the spring. The 6-foot-5, 208-pound Williams impressed coaches from the beginning with his speed and hands. He showed those attributes again Saturday in the annual “Red and White” practice, catching a 10-yard touchdown pass and making a couple other important grabs. “Not getting drafted, I have a little chip on my shoulder,” said Williams, who is Toledo’s career leader in receptions and yards. “A lot of people passed me up, and I feel comfortable in Arizona. I still have to prove myself for a lot of people.” Williams is competing for a backup spot behind Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Breaston and Early Doucet. “When you judge young guys, you want to see what they do in an environment like this,” coach Ken Whisenhunt said. “There’s a little bit more pressure, so obviously it will be a big test next week when we get into a game.”
