Cards Sign 4th Round Selection, Schofield

The Cardinals signed their 4th Round selection on Tuesday (7/27) to a 4-year deal.  The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Schofield will not solve the Cardinals’ immediate concerns at linebacker.  First, he’s an outside linebacker.  Second, he’s almost certainly going to start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list.  There’s no indication yet whether the Cardinals plan to bolster their linebacker core with veteran help through free agency.  For now, at least,  it seems they will try to piece together a patchwork ILB core from the in house candidates first, specifically veteran Paris Lenon, 2nd year pro Reggie Walker, Ali Highsmith, and rookie Daryl Washington.  In any event, I would move the ILB issue up my top ten most pressing concerns list I previously wrote, but at # 3, there isn’t much room at the top.
