Whisenhunt Says He’s Still Confident in QB Matt Leinart

ESPN reports that Ken Whisenhunt still seems confident that Matt Leinart can step in and get the job done.

Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt said that he still believes in Matt Leinart’s ability to be a good quarterback, the Arizona Republic reports. “A lot of times people say Matt couldn’t play because he couldn’t beat out Kurt [Warner],” Whisenhunt said. “I don’t subscribe to that. I’ve seen Matt grow tremendously over the last couple years, partially because he learned from Kurt and from how Kurt prepared. That’s a natural progression in this league. Matt understands what he has to do now to be successful. Matt has earned the right to be the quarterback of this football team, and he’s going to get the opportunity to see where he goes from that position.”
