Lutui’s New Agent Says Deuce Will Sign

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that RFA Deuce Lutui will finally sign his $1.76 million tender…in a few days.  Apparently, Lutui’s new agent, Ken Harris, met with the Cardinals and informed them that Deuce will sign his tender before June 15th.

I still contend that the Cardinals want Lutui starting at right guard, despite the fact that Reggie Wells is currently slated in that position.  Assuming that Lutui actually does what his agent says, which I guess at this point in the saga isn’t certain, Deuce will certainly have a fight on his hands when training camp hits.  It’s a fight that Lutui will probably win, though.  Wells had a lack luster year in 2009 and Lutui was significantly better.

It remains to be seen whether Deuce’s antics this offseason will prompt Russ Grimm or Ken Whisenhunt to give Lutui the cold shoulder, but winning is winning and the Cardinals will field the best product.  Once again I believe that includes Deuce Lutui at right guard.  In any event, it will be nice to finally drop this Deuce storyline for good.
