Could today be it for Kurt Warner if the Cardinals lose? PFT reports that there’s a strong indication that the QB will retire at the end of the year, and that of course could be today if the Cards fall to the Packers.
The Matt Leinart era may be closer than the Cardinals organization wants.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, people that know Kurt Warner expect him to retire after Arizona’s final game this year.
On one hand, the decision wouldn’t be a shock. Warner’s age, accomplishments, and concussion earlier this year could all lead him towards retirement. Florio suggested this could be it for Warner earlier this week.
Then again, he signed a two-year deal last year and has played great football this season. Like all retirement talk at this time of year, this could be subject to change.
If not, we could be watching the end of one of the most unique careers in recent NFL history end this posteason. Perhaps even later this Sunday.
