The Arizona Republic reports on the team using Benie Wells very sparingly so far this training camp after his ankle injury:

Beanie Wells has been out of action since suffering an ankle injury Aug. 1 in his first practice of camp. The Cardinals are easing him back into action, and Ken Whisenhunt hopes Wells will play Saturday night against the Chargers in the second preseason game. “I think Beanie is going to be begging to get some reps off here in the near future,” Whisenhunt said. “So be careful what you wish for, right?” Wells, the 31st overall pick in the NFL draft, appeared to favor the right ankle at times Sunday , especially during conditioning sprints at the end of practice. “At the end, slowing down was a little rough because I wasn’t warm,” he said. “I didn’t do hardly anything in practice. “I’m feeling pretty good about this week. I have the mental aspect down; it’s just now getting out there and playing.”
