Wells Suffers Ankle Injury in First Practice

Mike Sando has the following on an ankle injury that rookie Benie Wells suffered in his first practice today:

Beanie Wells made his Cardinals training camp debut Saturday, only to leave practice early in a cart as a precaution after suffering an ankle injury.

Cardinals general manager Rod Graves saw the play and said it appeared Wells “got rolled up on” during a pileup. The team suspected a minor injury.

While he was out there, Wells appeared taller than I had expected. He sppears lean in the lower legs and seemed to run well when the ball was in his hands.

If the injury was indeed minor, the crowd was the story Saturday. I would estimate its size to be in excess of 5,000 people. They chanted Larry Fitzgerald’s name. Kurt Warner ran over at one point and implored them to start a wave. Fans lined the field 20 deep in some places.
