Coming off their first-ever Super Bowl appearance, the reigning NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals have the 31st pick in the first-round of the 2009 NFL Player Draft.
Who will the Cardinals take with the pick?
And can they get a true impact player that late in the round?
Despite having the lowest first-round draft slot in Cardinals’ franchise history, Arizona is looking to get a player that can make a major impact from the get-go.
And with Edgerrin James likely to be released soon, that player could very well be a running back.
Thinking along those lines, the Cardinals are currently salivating at the thought of Ohio State’s Chris “Beanie” Wells possibly being available when they make their first-round pick.
The 6-2, 240-pound Wells has both the size and speed to be a dominant runner in the NFL, and his explosiveness and power-running skills would make the Cardinals’ high-flying offense even better.
Wells definitely has the ability and potential to develop into one of the NFL’s best running backs.
And if he is still available when Arizona makes the 31st pick of the 2009 NFL Draft, the Cardinals will take him.
