QB Warner Tries to Play “Let’s Make a Deal” With the Cards

After a few days of sweating it out on the open market, it appears that the Cardinals are going to get back franchise QB Kurt Warner. The Super Bowl QB spent Monday in San Fran talking to the 49’ers, but today word came out that Warner has made a proposal to the Cardinals of a return that would include two years at $23 million.

It’s a chance for the Cards, who were within two minutes of a Super Bowl win, to sign Warner at a “hometown” discount, and from all reports it appears that it will happen by the weekend. To make it an even better deal to the Cardinals, Warner, through agent Mark Bartelstein, is willing to reduce his contract by $1 million a year if they can successfully renegotiate the contract of wide receiver Anquan Boldin.

The deal that the Cards had been sitting on for Warner was two years at $20 million. It’s not known what type of offer the 49’ers were offering Warner. It was thought that Warner was looking for a deal between $14 and $16 mil per season.
