Warner Getting Calls; But Still Talking to Cardinals

No deal is done yet as quarterback Kurt Warner is officially on the free agent market. Sources say that representatives from two teams called on Friday to express interest in signing quarterback Warner, said Warner’s agent, Mark Bartelstein.

Who the two teams were is not known, but a guess here would be the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets. Again, just a guess though.

As of right now, Warner is not listening to other teams, but could if a deal with the Cardinals does not get done in the next few days. Reports say as of now, the sides are believed to be about $3 million to $4 million apart on yearly average.

The Cards have offered $20 million over two years, with half of that guaranteed, while Bartelstein is seeking around $29 million, with a higher amount guaranteed.

If a deal does not get done for Warner soon, there is no question that the intrigue of going out and talking to other teams is going to get stronger.
