Mike Martz a Possible Option for Offensive Coordinator?

The Press Democrat has an interesting story today about Kurt Warner’s former offensive coordinator joining him in the desert – Mike Martz. The Cards lost Todd Haley to the Chiefs this past week, and the team could go in a couple of different directions for their coordinator spot. Here’s the report on Martz:

The Cardinals are rumored to have asked for Mike Martz’s cellphone numbers. Martz and QB Kurt Warner go back to the Rams’ glory days, so a Martz hiring could help lure Warner back for 2009. Unlike San Francisco and Detroit, Martz would have the elite receiving core he hasn’t had since WR Isaac Bruce and WR Torry Holt and while the Cardinals have been wanting to try and hire within, Martz could be too good to pass up.

Saturday a name that popped up was that of Russ Grimm, who is already Ken Whisenhunt’s offensive line coach and assistant coach. Martz’s style is a 180 of Grimm, who would probably want to be more of a running, grind it out type of coach. Martz, is a guy who loves to throw, meaning the Cards could be the next version of the 1999 Rams “Greatest Show on Turf.”
