Limited Edition Football Salutes Cardinals

1st Home Playoff Win in 61 Years

And NFC Title Game Appearance

And Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Arizona Will Benefit, Too

It only took the Arizona Cardinals 61 years to win a home playoff game. When Kurt Warner & Company gazed up at the scoreboard after beating favored Atlanta, 30-24, it was like the Genie had come out of the bottle and a wish had come true.

Then, going to the East Coast and posting a humiliating win over the Carolina Panthers, who had been unbeaten at home all season, was taking it to another level.

These kinds of wishes had been in the making for a very long time, mind you, well before most Cardinals fans were even born.

The last time a pro football team named the Cardinals won a home playoff game the franchise was known as the Chicago Cardinals, and it took place at the old Comiskey Park in Chicago in 1947, when the Cards defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL title game.

Now that the Arizona Cardinals have gotten over the hump, and are posed to play another home playoff game this weekend against Philadelphia for the NFC title, this playoff season is going to continue to bring some smiles to the local youngsters at the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Arizona. Many of these youngsters have life-threatening medical conditions and depend on funds raised from special events to help grant special wishes.

Nikco Sports has announced it will produce a limited edition—just 2,009 will be made—full-sized football with a handsome acrylic display case, complete with one of the white panels sporting a full-color photo of the Cards celebrated quarterback Warner, who is back in the playoffs for the first time since leading the St. Louis Rams to the Super Bowl in 2001. In recent years, Nikco Sports has raised almost $1.7 million for children’s charities through the sale of special, limited-edition sports items around the country.

In Arizona, the Cardinals turnaround season is a classic rags to riches story, the kind that all Americans love. As Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt stated after the win over the Falcons, “a lot of people said we were the worst playoff team ever to get in. . .I think we rallied around that.”

Nikco Sports hopes Cardinals fans will rally around this special Cardinals football that will feature three white panels full of historic franchise facts, the scores of all regular season games from Arizona winning its first ever division title, and that special Kurt Warner panel with info about his career. The footballs can be ordered by calling 1-800-345-2868 or visiting The football and display case is priced at $99, and comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity to make it truly a memorable and valuable piece of sports memorabilia.

One of the white panels will feature information on the Cardinals franchise, its stadium and other historical facts. Another white panel will focus on the 2008 season and the division title, chronicling each game played with the final score and opponent, and include the official NFC title game logo for the upcoming contest against Philadelphiai. The final white panel is a tribute to quarterback Warner, and some of his professional achievements, and is highlighted by a stunning color photo of the offensive leader.

“Obviously winning the division title for the first time in Arizona Cardinals history, coupled with hosting the first ever pro playoff game on Arizona soil, and then winning a home playoff game for the first time in 61 years is really something to savor and commemorate,” said Nikco Sports CEO Craig Bidner. “But the most important part of our project is our involvement with the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Arizona.

We have worked with various Make-A-Wish groups over the past 10 years, but it is always special to work with the group that started the entire program back in 1980, where the first of so many wishes was granted. We are very pleased that a portion of the sales from these footballs will put smiles on the faces of so many deserving children who look to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Arizona for support and love.”

Many of Nikco Sports’ projects have honored amateur and professional teams (Super Bowl, World Series, NBA, NHL, NASCAR and NCAA) and have recognized some of the greatest athletes such as (baseball) Ozzie Smith, Mark McGwire, Kirby Puckett, Ryne Sandberg, Randy Johnson, Ichiro, Paul Molitor, Pedro Martinez, Greg Maddux, Roger Clemens, Cal Ripken, Jr., Jim Thome, Adam Dunne, Nolan Ryan, Ken Griffey, Jr. and Edgar Martinez; (football) Peyton Manning, John Elway, Dan Marino, Troy Aikman, Jim Kelly, Jerome Bettis, Ben Roethlisberger, Carson Palmer, Steve Young, Brett Favre, Emmitt Smith and Kurt Warner; (basketball) Magic Johnson, LeBron James, John Stockton, David Robinson, Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas; (motor sports) Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.; (hockey) Brett Hull; (golf) Tiger Woods.
