Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett and defensive end Antonio Smith were each slapped with fines for excessive celebration after Smith sacked Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan for a safety in the fourth quarter of the Cardinals Wild Card round win.
Dockett, who was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct at the time, was hit with a $20,000 charge, while Smith was hit with a lighter fine of $10,000.
Dockett may have been punished more severely because it is his second infraction of the same stripe. On December 7th, Dockett returned a fumble for a touchdown and then dropped to the ground where a teammate feigned performing CPR on him. NFL rules prohibit dropping to the ground as part of celebrations and Dockett was fined $10,000 at the time.
