Cardinals And Falcons Kick Off Postseason In The Desert

Two of the more surprising teams in the NFL this season will kick off the postseason when the Cardinals host the Falcons Saturday afternoon at University of Phoenix Stadium. The Cardinals went 9-and-7 to win the NFC West, their first division title since 1975. Kurt Warner put up MVP numbers, throwing for over 45-hundred yards and 30 touchdowns to help the Cards earn the right to host their first playoff game since 1947. The new combo of Matt Ryan and Michael Turner in the backfield led the Falcons to an 11-and-5 record, good for second place in the NFC South.

Ryan threw for 3,440 yards and 16 touchdowns, and Turner ran for 1,699 yards and 17 touchdowns to help the Falcons win five of their last six games and clinch the fifth seed in the NFC. This will be Atlanta’s first postseason appearance since 2004. The Cardinals beat the Falcons 30-27 when these two teams met last December in Arizona.
