Cardinals Put the Hammer Down on St.Louis in 34-13 Win

While the start wasn’t pretty, the end was, as the Cardinals pounded their rivals in the NFC West, the Rams for a 34-13 win to improve to 5-3 on the season. The team piled on 24 points in the second quarter, as they had a pick six, a Neil Rackers field goal, a Tim Hightower score, and a Kurt Warner throw for a TD.

The defense also put the hammer down on the Rams with the pick for a score by Antrel Rolle that tied the game at seven, and then the rest of the day pressured Marc Bulger and never let the Rams run game get going. For all the issues the Cards have had on the road the last two seasons, Sunday things all came together.

Warner was 23-for-34 for 342 yards with two TD’s and no picks with a QB rating of 120. His former teammate, Bulger, was just 16-for-33 for 186 yards with two TD’s and two picks. The Rams managed just 61 yards on the ground, while the Cards piled up 177 rushing yards.

The team may have found their back of the future, as Hightower had 109 yards on 22 carries with a 30-yard score. Edgerrin James didn’t record a carry in the game. The Cards as an offense piled up 24 first downs and 510 yards to just 231 yards for the Rams.

It was the most complete game the Cards had played in a long time. Now at 5-3, the team can look to build on their division lead with a game next Monday night at home vs the 49’ers, who are 2-6.
