Cardinals 2-0 For First Time In 17 Years, Destroy Dolphins 31-10

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner, for the lack of a better term, used and abused the Miami Dolphins’ secondary all game long as he and wide receiver Anquan Boldin connected for 3 touchdowns in leading Arizona to a dominating 31-10 win over Miami at University of Phoenix Stadium on Sunday

The offensive fireworks began at 12:20 of the first quarter as Warner connected on a 79-yard bomb to Boldin for a score, giving the Cardinals a quick 7-0 lead; on their next possesion, Warner would connect with WR Larry Fitzgerald on a 75-yard pass completion which would move them to the Dolphins 5-yard line. 3 plays later, Warner would throw a TD pass to Boldin, increasing Arizona’s lead to 14-0 with 5:40 left in the first period. To illustrate how bad things went for Miami, backup QB Chad Henne led the Dolphins on their lone TD drive, which was capped by a 1-yard run by RB Ronnie Brown late on the 4th quarter, making the score – which would stay – 31-10.

Dolphins QB Chad Pennington suffered through a poor outing, going 10-of-20 for only 112 yards while Henne relieved him, going 7-of-12 for 67 yards. Warner had an excellent start, going 19-of-24 for 361 yards with 3 scores. Rushing was pretty much non-existent for both squads; Ricky Williams led all Dolphins rushers with only 28 yards on 11 carries while Brown added 25 yards on 11 carries. Edgerrin James led the Cardinals rushing attack with 18 carries for 55 yards while Tim Hightower rushed for 24 yards and a score. Derek Hagan led the Dolphins receivers with 3 receptions for 51 yards while Greg Camarillo added 49 yards on 4 catches. The Cardinals receivers were led by Fitzgerald, who caught 6 passes for 153 yards while Boldin caught 6 balls for 140 and 3 TD’s. Miami (0-2) has yet another tough challenge ahead of them as they travel to Foxboro, MA to take on the New England Patriots on September 21 while the Cardinals (2-0) fly east to take on the Washington Redskins – also on September 21.
