Whisenhunt with Three Options if Johnson Leaves Free Agency

Knowing that its more than likely that wide out Bryant Johnson will bolt come free agency at the end of the week, the Cards are looking at who is going to take his place as the 3rd wide receiver on the roster. Today’s Arizona Republic states that coach Ken Whisenhunt, when asked, named three possible choices already on the roster to take the role of Johnson. Those three pass catchers include Jerheme Urban, Ahmad Merritt and Jamaica Rector. Urban is a restricted free agent, but will be with the team as he’ll get a tender by Friday. Merritt and Rector will battle for roster spots according to the paper. Urban played in 10 games last season with 22 catches for 329 yards and two scores. Merritt has not played in the league since 2003 when he had 3 catches with the Bears, and Rector played in one game with the Cowboys in 2006 without a catch.
