Dansby Tagged

The Arizona Cardinals, not surprisingly, on Thursday placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on linebacker Karlos Dansby; Dansby, who was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this month, was offered a one-year tender in the amount of the average of the 5 highest-paid linebackers ($8,065,000) in the NFL in 2007.

Dansby, in the meantime, can continue to negotiate a long-term contract with the team through July 15; if he receives an offer from another club, the Cardinals can either match the offer or receive 2 first-round picks as compensation.  Dansby in 2007 recorded 117 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 3 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles in 14 games for Arizona.
