Suggs a Player the Cards Could Use in 2008

Suggs in college

Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs is set to be a free agent in March, and the East Valley Tribune is doing its part to give the Cardinals indication that the former Arizona State star wants to come home come free agency.  Suggs was passed on by the Cardinals in the 03 draft, but know after five solid seasons in the league, the paper is reporting that Suggs would love to come and play in Glendale in 2008 and beyond.

The Cards need an impact defensive player like Suggs, and his playmaking and sacking ability could be a big boost to the Cards defense if they can land him.  He was the 2003 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, and the 20 he collected during his two Pro Bowl seasons (2004 and 2006).  The paper says that Suggs will be looking for about $50 mil for five years in this free agent period, a number that the Cards likely would not be able to afford.

With the Seahawks with plenty of free agents to worry about though, this could finally be the offseason and then next season that the Cardinals can take a step to the next level and pass Seattle as the top dog in the NFC West.  Adding Suggs to the defense would be a big step in the right direction.
