Cards Host Rams in the Final Game of the 07 Season

The Cardinals finish the season at home this week vs. their NFC West rival, the St. Louis Rams. The Cardinals will try for their second win in a row to finish the season with an 8-8 record, their best since 1998 when they finished 9-7. An 8-8 mark would give the Cards their third season of .500 or better in 20 seasons in Arizona (9-7 in 1998 and 8-8 in ’94). A win would also give them a 6-2 home record, their best since 1976 when they finished 6-1 at home. It would give Arizona its first-ever season sweep over St. Louis.

Last week the Cardinals continued their season-long trend of playing in close games, as they prevailed over the Atlanta Falcons 30-27 in overtime. It was their NFL leading 12th game decided by eight points or fewer. WR Anquan Boldin starred, catching 13 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns while becoming the fastest player in NFL history to reach 400 career receptions. QB Kurt Warner threw three TD passes, giving him 24 for the season and a career-high seven games in a row with multiple touchdowns. Warner completed a career-high 36 passes but was neither sacked nor intercepted.

The Rams come into University of Phoenix Stadium with 10 days of rest after a 41-24 home loss to the Steelers on Thursday night. In that contest, the teams traded scores early and the Rams were within a TD in the fourth quarter before the Steelers closed out the game with a field goal and a 51-yard interception return for a TD.
