Boldin, Brown to Miss Cards Contest with Panthers

The Cards are going to be missing a couple of key players for Sunday’s showdown at home against the Panthers, but not players they are not use to not having over the past few weeks.  One is wide out Anquan Boldin, who is doubtful with a hip injury, but from all indications will not play with the injury.  He’s already missed the last two games with it, and rest is the best thing for it.  “Physically, he can play,” coach Ken Whisenhunt said. “My concern is not getting a lot of reps” in practice. “That’s why he’s doubtful.”  Boldin said, “I’m getting better, but I’m not sure” whether he’ll play.

Another player that will be out is offensive lineman Levi Brown, who will miss his third straight with a sore ankle.  The line has not suffered all that much with him out, but at the same time it would be nice to get him back in the lineup.  Brown has had a productive first season, but at the same time, he needs to be on the field more to continue to learn his craft, and this ankle injury is keeping him from that.  Nevertheless, the Cards remain favored against a Panthers team that may have to actually throw out 43-year old Vinny Testevarde at QB at some point in the contest.
