REWARDS: Fitzgerald has all the makings of an elite fantasy receiver. His combination of size, strength and athleticism make him a tantalizing red zone target. Fitzgerald has averaged eight touchdowns in his three pro seasons. Despite missing three games last season with a hamstring injury, Fitzgerald recorded six touchdowns and 946 receiving yards. At 23 years old, he already has a 103-catch campaign under his belt (2005). He is just entering the stage of his career where he truly is ready to blossom.
RISKS: Playing alongside another great receiver in Anquan Boldin can hinder his production, as Boldin is a threat to catch 100 balls himself every season. Will new head coach Ken Whisenhunt‘s offense be as run-heavy in Arizona as it was in Pittsburgh? If so, Fitzgerald could be targeted less frequently. Fitzgerald may have to undergo some growing pains as he builds chemistry with second-year quarterback Matt Leinart, who enters his first full season as a starter.
BOTTOM LINE: Fitzgerald simply has too much to offer to not be worthy of an early-round selection, though his stock may be down somewhat from a year ago. He certainly has the talent to return to 2005 form.
