The Cardinals released punter Scott Player Wednesday. The move comes a day after the club claimed punter Mike Barr off waivers from Pittsburgh. Player appeared in 140 games during his nine seasons in Arizona, and was selected to the 2000 Pro Bowl. He was the last remaining player from Arizona’s 1998 playoff team.
The Cardinals have claimed punter Mike Barr off waivers from the Pittsburgh Steelers. This preseason, Barr has punted six times, averaging 45 yards a kick. He started his NFL career in 2003 with the Washington Redskins and New York Jets. He then spent the next few season with NFL Europe.

The Cardinals scored 31 points in their preseason game against the San Diego Chargers Saturday night. The bad news is that San Diego scored 33. Matt Leinart completed 10-of-16 passes for 196 yards and one touchdown. Arizona travels to Denver on Thursday to play the Broncos in a nationally televised game.
